Strandbu is idyllically placed in the fishing harbour a short distance from Kirkehamn in Hidra. There is a public recreational area with a beach right by the cabin. There is also a harbour. The cabin is a short walk from the town of Kirkehamn where you will find a grocery shop. In the backdrop you will see the hill Hågåsen which has a rich history and a beautiful view of the archipelago.

All year. Strandbu is open for accommodation all year.
Number of beds:
2 beds. The fold-out couch can sleep two. The beds are equipped with bedsheets for protection. However, bring a sleeping bag liner/hut sack or bedsheets. A larger group may put up a tent in the recreational area outside.

Standard:
Strandbu is quite new and it is decorated with new furniture and a kitchen. The cabin is small and simple which is in accordance to the Coastal Trail rule to secure cheap accommodation along the coast. Every guest will need to clean up after themselves.
Facilities:
The kitchen is fully equipped for two people. There are bedsheets but you are required to bring your own sleeping bag liner/hut sack or bedsheets. Adjacent to the cabin you will find the toilet, shower and washing machine.
Arrival- and departure time:
Check-in from 14:00 the day of arrival until 12:00 the day of departure.
Cleaning the cabin:
The cabin is unstaffed which means the guests will need to tidy up and clean after themselves. Please bring a kitchen towel and a kitchen rag. Dispose of all food and garbage. The garbage goes in the large container by the harbour.
Strandbu can be reached by car, bus, bike, boat or kayak. By car follow Fv469 from Flekkefjord to the ferry terminal at Kvellandstrand. The ferry takes 8 minutes and arrives at Launes. From there drive towards Kirkehamn. Right before arriving at Kirkehamn make a left to the fishing harbour.

It is also possible to arrive at Kirkehamn by bus from Flekkefjord. Information about the bus schedule may be seen here: bus
Arrival by sea by private boat or by kayak. You may moor at the guest harbour a short distance from the cabin. Kayakers can easily come ashore at the beach by the cabin.
Hidra is the largest island in the county of Vest-Agder and it is located in the municipality of Flekkefjord. The island has approximately 600 inhabitants. There is no bridge that connects the island to the mainland but there is an operating ferry.
