VIEWPOINT AT HERAD AND BØENSBAKKEN

Round trip along the old road in Herad and Bøensbakken 

Rating: Demanding. 19 km, 595 m climb

Terrain: Good asphalt road, 5.5 km dirt road in Bøensbakken

Traffic: Some traffic on Fv465, otherwise little

For information: The first hills from Hanesund and parts of the Bøensbakken are steep. Use your breaks on the way down!

From the parking lot in Hanesund to the right towards Bjørnestad before the tunnel. You will have amazing views as you bike along the hills. You will pass by three bodies of water and down to Åptafjorden and Sande. Cross the Fv465 past Herad church, and take the gravel road next to the highway up Kjerringdalen and to the right before the tunnel. Great view down Bøensbakken with a level and idyllic ride past Straumen and back to Hanesund.

If you bike the opposite way, it will be a bit more demanding to bike up Bøensbakken but then you get asphalt road on the way back down to Hanesund.
