From the old road across Kvinesheia take one of the road towards Hidreskog and follow this inn to Gausdalvatnet. As there is a boom and grinder along the road that goes further along the lake, you have to park the car at the bottom of the hill before reaching the first houses at Hidra. The trail follows along the road into the farm Gausdal. After approx. 2.5 km along the road you walk up to the house on Gausdal. Here is the sign for Gausdalviå. The trail that goes up to Gausdalviå is marked with red on trees and rocks. From Gausdal, 340 meters above sea level. it rises evenly towards Gausdalviå at approx. 600 height meters. After 2-3 km we reach the highest point in the mountains. A big cairn on Tjødneskarknuden marks the peak of 609 meters above sea level. The cairn is located in Hægebostad municipality, but also on Kvinesdal side we reach over 600 meters. From the top you can see many famous mountain areas in Vest-Agder. The return to the starting point is in the same red-marked trail.
