FORSBERGLØYPA

Intermediate, 6,8 km

Forsbergløypa is best known for the Sirdalsløpet which is a family race arranged by Sandness Sports Club on “Maundy Thursday” during Easter. It is moderately challenging with steep descents requiring a “herringbone” technique. For trained skiers, this is one of the best trails. The trail is fairly sheltered from the wind, however the stretch between Valevatn and Svåbergtjødn can be exposed.  If you go halfway up the trail to Appelsinhaugen, you can choose to take the Degløypa trail further on to Kvæven or Fidjeland. If you choose to go to Kvæven, you can go further to Haugen or get back to Sinnes. Or you can opt to go to Fidjeland which will take you halfway to Degløypa and over Fidjelandsvatnet. Be aware that goods may be transported by snowmobile along this route to the cabins in the area.
