Dog sledding

Let yourself be excited when the dogs rund loose over the white plains. From lots of noise, chaos and empowerment at the start, to the complete silence you encounter on the mountain. Listen to the fire that crackles and feel the fresh air filling your lungs. Let peace fill your mind. When we consider you to be in the eye and smile. For then we know that you’ve got a taste of our Sirdal and that this will remember!

In Sirdal we love winter! Especially when the sun is shining and the snow is like a welcoming carpet that attracts both people and dog team out on the trip. Heavy snowfall and the wind howling provides a magical and feeling good after physical exertion in the fresh mountain air. At times like this it is great to enjoy a tasty meal before you go to bed.

Together with us in Sirdal Huskyfarm, you will under safe conditions go on day trips, snowshoeing, dog sledding trips with overnight stays in cabins or tents in the wilderness camp. For others ice climbing or snowmobiling, or simply a day in the toboggan run might be more tempting.

Winter is a welcomed friend in Sirdal!

Huskyfarm Adventure, 3h
A three-hour family friendly program at the farm. We start by greeting all the huskies in the dog garden, which all are very friendly and social among people. We will present some theory of dogsledding and run through the basics of necessary equipment before we get the huskies ready for the adventure. All participants will be offered to ride by themselves around a circular track at the farm. We will finish with a light meal and stories from the history of Sirdal inside our authentic basement, Kjedlaren.
No age limit – Children must be able to control the sledge alone, or be accompanied by an adult. Price: NOK 650,- / < 14 years NOK 300,-/ < 3 years free

Mountain Adventure, 4-5h
A mountain trip with a total duration of 4-5 hours, where the participants get involved in the routines and procedures of the huskies before and after the trip. Destination will be determined based on snow- and weather conditions. Participants will drive and have the responsibility of their own dog sledge, if nothing else has been agreed upon. We are happy to share the history of the areas we are visiting. A light meal is included.

Overnight Mountain Adventure
An overnight mountain trip where we will accommodate guests at a historical mountain cabin. We will visit one of Norway´s largest protected areas – where Europe´s most southerly wild reindeer tribe lives. Destination will be determined based on snow- and weather conditions. We will share stories of the former times about the people, poverty and the struggle for survival based on the primitive conditions of what nature had to offer. All necessary equipment, food and beverages are included. Participants must bring their own sleeping bag and clothing based on weather conditions.
Age limit: >14 years. Price: From NOK 3500,-/person (maximum 5 participants)

Premium Mountain Adventure
A unique experience with an overnight stay at a mountain cabin for maximum two participants. We offer high level of standard, service and exclusive meals. You will experience breathtaking scenery and proximity to the elements – history, human and wilderness. All necessary equipment, clothing, food and beverages are included.
